NEW YORK – New York Rangers mentor David Quinn and collaborators Jacques Martin, David Oliver and Greg Brown missed a 9-0 win against the Philadelphia Flyers at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday as per NHL COVID-19 convention rules.
Kris Knoblauch, mentor of the Rangers’ American Hockey League subsidiary in Hartford, supplanted Quinn as acting mentor. Hartford partner mentor Gord Murphy and Rangers partner head supervisor Chris Drury were aides.
Knoblauch said he got pulled off the ice in Hartford at 11:30 a.m. ET and was advised to call Drury, who advised him to be on reserve since he may need to mentor the Rangers. It was affirmed at around 1 p.m. that he would. The game was at 7:30 p.m
